More information I now have on Achatina craveni-
The origin of the snails is South Africa, Northern Province within the area of the Western Soutpansberg from a farm named Lajuma (aprox. 50km west of Louis Trichardt) at 1300m altitude. The Snails were (originally) collected on stony ridges with shrubby vegetation. The climate is very dry and cold in winter with ocasional frosts and very warm and wet summers (occasionaly droughts can occur). They were identified with a use of a key, and discussions with other enthusiests.

There shell-lenght will be adult around 5 cm and they are living only around 2 years. Breeding seems to be difficult with them. Eggs are hatching but over 70 percent of the babies die (to whatever reason) in the first 2 months.

Yes, Kevin, they are all from early August from the same seller. ;D Thats amazing how they're so small at that age, I wonder how long it takes them to reach sub-adult/adult size?

hmm...im not surprised 70% die if theyre 1mm big and they live high up on mountains. the adults must be very tenacious.
