today i noticed something peculiar. Rosalind my baby fuli has one long eyestalk and one short. will the short one catch up with the long one or is it some sort of injury? i must admit i've never had a wonky eyestalked snail before, i don't care as long as shes healthy but i would like to know what it is. Its actually kinda cute

i've seen that before with one of my baby snails. at first i thought that something was wrong because i could see both of the snail's eyes, but one of the eye stalks was really short. i kept a close eye on the snail, and later he decided to make them the same length again. when i gave him away, i told the person that i gave him to to watch and see if it happened, and she said it did, but the eye stalkes always went back to normal after a while. so, i dont think that it is anthing to worry about.

well, maybe you should look on the internet and ask around and see if this condition is serious, and if you should get it checked out. hope she is ok.

There is info on applesnail.net which says a snail can completely re-grow a lost eye-stalk in about a month. So I don't think you have much to worry about (plus they're almost blind anyway!!)

I read somewhere that snails have a lens in their eye. That means they can focus their vision, to an extent. Even though they are probably "almost blind" compared to how humans can see, I'll bet they can see better than we think they can.

i agree, for all we know, they could have great eyesight, after all, we arent the ones seeing through their eyes.

she seems a little better, which is good, and has lots of new shell growth, also good. Jasmine had her op on tuesday and is much better, poor little thing hates the no sawdust rule though, bless. hopefully the eye wil be ok, its strange cos it looks like a pupil is on the end but is not on the tip but further back if you see what i mean.
