I dunno, I imagine they'd be maggot like if they were the flies.
Come to a new decision as of how to go - I cant remove their moss, they really need it, especially Gary and Sally. So I've got hubby to pick up new moss for all the tanks (only that crap Do It All stuff though, reptile place still didnt have any despite us asking him to get some in ages ago), I'm going to take all snails out of all tanks - scrub tanks out, rinse with boiling water, and put new moss in. New moss will be micro-ed before going in, snails will be showered/bathed. I dont have a mixer tap so cant use that on them, so it's either a really thorough bath/spray, or going under the actual shower *lol* I think the first option would be best, dont want to drown the poor sods, they've had enough to deal with.
Oddly enough, no sign of mites on any snails this morning. There were only a couple on Gary last night, so I'm hoping we've caught it early.

Oh and another Ps. How long should we microwave the moss for?

No idea 'cause I've never done it lol Sorry With mine I washed it in really hot water then let it dry out then washed it again. Are you going to put it in a tub and do it? Maybe start at a couple of seconds and see how hot it is?

I use to do a big bowl about the size of a dinner plate for 4-5 minutes
But there are 2 different flies that seem to live in the tanks i know fruit flies do have maggots but the little black fly seems to appear the same time as the mites so it just seems a bit of a coinsidence thats all

Ahh well it's little black flies we have. So maybe? I've checked them all (in that tank) again, still no sign of any. But I'm not going to risk it, I'll still be cleaning them thoroughly tonight.
Thanks for the micro info, it's what I'm going to do at every clean out from now on!
