im really scared cus 3 of my fulica have this problem. the mantle is further back than usual and just goes further and further. the snails also look weaker and smaller.I put one of the ill snails in another tank when i first noticed this and its getting better. i have a feeling it might be something in the fulica tank. i looked closely at one of the ill snails and there were these worms and they were really wierd. they were about 1cm long and 1mm thick. one half of the worm was white but the other half was black, and i could see the worms were going into the snails shell. could this be causing their problems and if so, how? why do they seem to eat less? ahh im so worried cus one of them is my biggest favourite snail. should i change the soil, cus i only changed it about 2 weeks ago? kind regards mike

It does sound like the problems are caused by the worms, unless they are just baby earthworms or something. But they don't sound like that. Get pictures of the things if you can.
In terms of why they may be affecting the snails, it could well be the irritation means the snails just retreat to safety.

so if the worms are gone then the snails go back to normal? but why is it only certain snails? will the worms stay inside the snails and how do i get rid of them if they do?

I have no idea really, I guess you're gonna have to tell us if you make any progress.

i brought the tank into the garden to change the soil and i found loads of these stupid worms. anyway i think i get them fairly often, but i changed the soil and washed all the snails and the food. then i put the smaller sick snail into the smaller tank with the other 2 sick snails hopefully he'll get better there (or will he infect the others?)
kind regards
mike
