Whilst cleaning out my snails today, I discovered loads of little white mites everywhere. Does anyone know where I can buy some Hypoapsis from I am worried as the little babies are looking really unwell, I think 2 of the 11 may already be gone Just when I thought I was doing so well

********** Thanks Tigs, You're a Star ;D ************ Can you keep these in a tank if you dont need all of them I Think 10,000 may be too many for 3 small tanks Do you tip the little fella's in and let them get on with it?

Hi,
Yes you tip a bunch in and let them get on with it. I bought a load of snails a wee while back and had the same problem as they had mites, I also lost some Iradeli babies due to it. Bought some Hypo thingummyjigs and they did wonders. My latest lot of Iradelis are strong and healthy as a result.
It's an awful thing to happen but please do hurry and buy those predetory mites as they work wonders. They arrive quickly from Defenders but in the meantime it helps to bath your snails to get rid of at least some of them, and change the soil. This alone will not irradicate them as they hide in the breathing holes of snails so you need the hypo-mites.
Yes they are pricey and they don't keep un-used, but they are worth it.
Very best of luck to you and your snails. xx

thanks ness I have placed an order, waiting for them to arrive. Just seems odd to send in more mites to stop original mites. EEEEWWWWW Itching at the thought of them!!!!!!
