Ok I must admit i am having my second snail panic this year. Yesterday I noticed Rosalind acting a bit moody but I thought it was because ebony would not let her near a strawberry, but today i noticed she had not moved all night ( which never happens ) and she had a lot of water coming out of her shell. I picked her up and gave her a check up. Shes slightly swollen, barely moving and part of her body has come away from her shell. I've given her an antibacterial bath, cuttlefish, food and isolated her but shes not moving off the lettuce, shes barely even sticking her eyes out. I've got no idea whats caused this and now have no idea what to do, I know its not snail pox but i'm wondering if its related to it. Shes still only small and it makes it more difficult to tell what else is wrong. Has anyone got ideas what to do?

it is rather like the mantle collapse but not that bad, it is only a small amount on one side, about a quater of her. Its not any of the first three. I've looked on the net but nothing seems to fit other than mantle collapse, but that does not explain the water coming out the shell. I really need to find out what to do with her to sort this out. i can't give her to much humidity as she has all this water already and has shown before she does not like it. and she is already in an icecream tub for isolation.

Mantle collapse was my first thought. I hope she gets better soon, regardless of what it is.

thanks donut, i already took her down my vets. rest, food and cuttlefish should sort her out is what they said. they said the main problem is getting her to eat so i've mushed up some carrot for her with cuttlefish mixed in. i think the receptionist thought i was mad going in with a snail. oh well. anyway she seems a tiny bit better today. she ate some mush which is good.

If she wont eat try baby food stage one, that has no salt in it.
Also did she eat some strawberry? I tried with one of my garden snails who seemed to have had a bad reaction with it and died.
Some snails can be fussy with what they eat, it might have upset her tummy if she had some.
Also did you check the temp of the thank? I had a fulica have mantle collapse because It was too hot in the room for him, hes ok now, he healed well and I keep the fan on when the days are hot ;D

shes had full collapse and will only come out if i submerge her for a few secs. i don't know if shes gonna make it, the water still comes sometimes but she is slightly swollen now. dunno what else to try. can snails have live yoghurt? it might be worth while trying that if they can. @ Glitterbug, shes had strawberry loads before and been fine, its well washed organic ones from my garden. never had a snail react to strawberry. It should not be the kiwi either as shes had tiny bits before and i THINK she had some with her when she arrived here. She won't eat baby food either.

This morning i got up and went to check on Rosalind. Somehow during the night she broke her shell and had a huge jagged bit sticking out. I had to trim that bit off and filed her shell smooth but shes very deeply retracted and won't come out. I think that the mantle collapse is causing this but the fact she won't come out is a serious problem as i can't feed her. I made her apple mush (her fav) but she still won't come out. Shes not dead but i think she will be soon if i can't do something. help! also can i give her live yoghurt and will that help?

I don't know what to suggest. feel kinda helpless...is she in isolation? My snails usually get better when I do so.
