I've been thinking and have realised Rosalind was born in jan and died this month, so she was about 6mnths old, but she was still tiny. was she just a runt or was it an illness she got sometime after i got her that built up to the mantle collapse? i've had this horrid feeling that she was ill for a while and i did not even realise , i should have noticed she was not growing really but for some reason i didn't, i put it down to her being a late grower.

TSS - first off even if ill im sure it was nothing that you did x
when the last of the baby snail left me (a few weeks ago) the LARGEST of them was a little over 1inch in SHELL length only so im not sure how this compairs to Rosalinds size - i can check up on what size the babies are now tho
i too am feeling bad at m as one of the rescue Garden Snails this week passed away & i am SO SURE he was doing great & was eating etc & then last week i looked in & nope he had gone - again im feeling - is it something i did/didnt do etc but in the end i think so little is known about them that until they are REALLY poorly there are no signs
hope you are feeling ok hun x

I don't know if runts occur in egg-laying species. Runts usually show up in mammal's litters. I've never heard of a bird runt or a snake runt.
I wonder if dwarfism, on the other hand, might be possible? Something with the genetics?

Coyote: you DO get bird runts as pelicans are bullies to the runts.
however i am not so sure about molluscs and reptiles.
