Today Ive noticed some baby vampire crabs in their tank. Ive counted seven, but theres likely more of them in there. They are approx 2-4mm or so, and are fully formed crabs. In the first pic the crab is towards the top right of the picture, next to the white gravel, and a picture of one of the adults,

Good morning
I have some possibility of acquiring this splendid species. What are parameters for their breed ? (temperature, surface water / sand, food)
Can you show a whole photograph of your tank ?
(Sorry for my "not very good English", I am French)

Hi,
I dont have any photo's of their tank, its very diffficult to get any clear pics with a mobile phone camera. I keep them in a 3ft x 1ft glass tank. 2/3 Land, 1/3 water. I use a paint tray as the water part of their housing. It has a deep and shallow end, the deepest being around 8cm.
Its very difficult to heat such a small amount of water area, so I use a heatmat under the water area, and also at the back of the tank behind the land area. The tank stay's around 26c, and quite humid.
I feed them commercial fish flake (crushed for the baby Crabs) also lettuce, sweet potato, hikari crab cuisine (pelleted food) and also sinking vegetable pellets, thats usually sold for aquatic snails and herbivorous fish.

hey I'm new to the forum... congrats on your baby vamps! I've recently just started keeping vampire crabs myself, I have 2 males at the moment in a smallish tank with a water pool made from a tupperware tub and half gravel, half sand type gravel for solid groud, I also have a heat mat which is on the back of the tank. The crabs seem to have settled in well, I've been feeding them a crab pellet mix of granules, chips, flakes and crisps. I had a couple of questions about breeding them...... How long did it take for yours to catch? when they do is there any way of telling your females are pregnant and also how long is pregnancy? any info you can provide would be great thanks
