I would like to ask anyone on this forum to supply me some information concerning your snails for a study in life length.
Anyone who'd had snails that died are welcome to contribute to my study, when I'm done I will post the information on the forum.
To contribute you just post on this thread, Species, Achatina fulicia per example Lifetime, an estimation will do, I don't need exact age but try to be as exact as possible Cause of death, If known
Thank you for your contribution. -emil.

Life lenght in snails is an important subject, because some snails can be caught or got when they are old already and then die suddenly, with no apparent reason... Some european land snails have 1 year of life cycle or so and some people claim about them being too difficult to keep, but that´s not always the reason...

I would like to thank everybody for donating this information. I understand it can be a bit sensitive to talk about things like this and I know this kind of small study isn't exactly groundbreaking. I've obtained info from other sources aswell and so far all I can say is that most the A. Fulica in this study lived for 4 years the oldest was 6 years and the youngest 4 months. Most cases was age-related and after that mantle collapse. thoose who died of mantle collapse all died before they where a year old. Retraction syndrome killed snails that where between six months and two years. I don't have enough information to make this "valid" but it shows some relation betwen age and cause of death. I have not received enough information on other spieces to make any conclusions. I would like to make it clear that no research has been made in the memorial section and that the study is still on, no reason to stop so to say. If you would like to contribuate but don't want to post tne info this openly feel free to send me personal messages. Thanks to all of you who have contribuated information.
