hello all. Irony has been buried for 4 days now and hasn't moved at all. He is 11 months old and in the tank with another 11 month old and a 8 month old snail. He is a Fulica.
Does this mean he could be laying eggs? or what?
i have not seen any breeding activity between them but then again i am not wityh the 24/7 so who knows what they have been up to lol ... They have never bread before as far as i know
The tank is heated and gets sprayed twice a day.
thanks xxx

Can't say for sure, can you lift the tank up and look underneath? 4 days is quite a while, I'd be tempted to disturb it, just to make sure he's ok.

I don't know about the giant snails, but my small garden snails usually stay buried for 2 days when laying eggs. If I were you, I'd try poking around in that part of the tank to see if I could spot any eggs.

well, i lifted him up, just to make sure he wasn't dead. No eggs that i could see, do they sometimes lay them in a tunnel through the hole then cover them up? He wasn't dead by the way lol

don't feel guilty, its best to move them every now and then if they do that and put them on food so they do eat. try raising the tank temp a little.

I agree, double check the tank temperature - I checked on one of mine today because he'd been dozing longer than usual and he'd begun sealing himself in - the tank setup that worked fine before apparently couldn't cope with the recent temperature drop and it'd gone too low for him. I moved the mat from the outside of the tank to the inside and it seems to be compensating, but now I'm keeping a close eye on all the others just to make sure!
