Another question: I just bought some liquid calcium for the snails. It contains calcium, Phosphorus and vitamin D. Is this ok to give to the snails or could the phosphorus and vitamin D be harmful for them?
Sorry if this isn't correct english terms
Emil.

If it's the sort of liquid calcium sold for reptiles, then there are two kinds - with phosphorus and vit. D, and without. I don't keep reptiles but I would guess that means there are cases where one is suitable and the other isn't. Find out what circumstances reptiles would need it with ph. and vit. D, and that might tell you if it's suitable for your snails. I don't think they'd be actually *harmful* but I can't say for sure.
Sorry I can't help further, the only liquid calcium I've used personally is the stuff from snailshop.co.uk.

Vitamin D is essential for healthy snails, that's why they need sunlight. Vitamin D helps regulate the calcium and phosphorus in our bodies (and snails too I guess). Vit. D helps our, and their bodies to absorb phosphorus and calcium from the food that we eat.
Cells use phosphorus to send cellular energy.
So I don't see there being any problems using the liquid stuff you have....there isn't anything bad in it.
