I have now had three snails die with the main symptom being inability to retract fully into the shell. The also tend to fall over on their sides. The first snail to have these symptoms was mature. I laughed that he had become lazy because he was on his side a lot. However, I soon realized that this was serious because he could not retract or keep his shell upright.
Have you heard of this? Could his body have been infested with a parasite?
The next two to die this way were juveniles.
I have about 30 snails in 4 different snailhouses. I have had 2 deaths in one house, one death in another.
Any ideas?

none of my gals ever retract fully and they are all fine, can you take a pic to show how much they can? not being able to support the shell may mean they were to weak so it is possible they have mites, can you see any little whitish creatures on the snails?

I had an aspersa that couldn't retract fully just prior to her passing away. It began when she had already begun to ail visibly.
