Hi All,
Just out of interest, how do you keep your bog wood from going mouldy...?
I had a lovely piece - I boiled it so it was sterile before adding it to the tank..... then a couple of days later it was mouldy... So I boiled it again, scrubbed it, and the same thing happened again...
So that piece is now in a pot in the garden looking pretty ;D
How do you stop yours from going mouldy???

Mine doesn't, or at least never has so far.... most of the bits I have have spent time in fishtanks in the past, though I don't see how that would make a difference. You could try mopani or red moor wood, perhaps.

make sure your wood is completely dry before you put it in the tank. If the inside of the wood is wet/damp then it will breed mould spores.
All the best Ade

I shove my sticks in freezer when mould appering. I leave there for 24-48 hours atleast until I can't see mould and then let it melt to next day and put back to tank. And repeat when mould comes back.
Till wood it complete dry it takes like 6months or something, so I put then in tank fresh, just shower them with hot water.

I might go get another chunk and after sterilising it, leave it in the airing cupboard for a week!!!
Thanks ;D
