Hi all, My Retic who's about 16 months old has got a white spot/lump like thing just behind his head. It's about 2mm wide. It looks raised but when I touch it it goes smooth again the same as his skin but stays white. It then raises slightly again when I take my finger away. He's only had it for about a month at most but it has got a bit bigger over the last week or so. It doesn't seem painful when I touch it and his behaviour seems as normal. He's eating fine. Should I be worried? I haven't changed anything in the tank. I'm going to give it a good clean tomorrow incase anything has got in that shouldn't be there. He lives in a big glass tank with one other Fulica who is well. Any advice appreciated, many thanks Sorry if its a repeated post, couldn't see any answers in first 4 pages!

Well i think he is ok but my dead snail had that. She had a hole in her shell so i spared her but it was too much water and went into her organs just before she died the water left bubbles on her head. Im not saying that ur snail will die but when its out of ahel just tip it forwards and backwards if it stays still then its not gonna die but i dont no even if your snail will die so young usually when their old but he wont die. i know you wont let him die

Hi hally, it sounds like it's the mating organs of your snail that are showing. It's normal and nothing to be worried about.

I agree with Coyote, sounds like he's just showing his bits off

Thanks so much everyone for putting my mind at rest and thank you Crossless for the photos. : )
I do feel a bit silly now i've found out what it is! It just seemed to appear one day haha. It's good to know they're ok though. Yesterday I noticed the same thing in the same place on my Fulica who's slightly younger so that makes sense as they're both getting a bit older now. It looks exactly like the one on the snail in the second picture put up by Crossless so it's definitely their bits!
I shall have to start checking for eggs before long then I guess. Many thanks again all!!

You needn't feel silly. My daughter and I were shocked, too, when we discovered that "spot" the first time.

No need to feel silly. Many people post the same question from time to time. It's normal to think perhaps something is wrong. I'd rather people ask about it than to keep silent and not find out what's going on.

Yes, I remember when I took me ages to find out how they poop. I was like where this poop comes from and I one day I just saw it the first time on it's way. >.<
