Hehe, about 6-7 of them have hatched. I've got another 2 batches though that were laid later, I don't think they're doing to well though "/ they haven't moved since I saw them this morning.

O/T, but my previous computer developed a broken spacebar and every time I typed it looked like this toavoidbecomingaghastlyrunonsentence and instead looked like a minimalist haiku

I've found 3 other batches, one looks a lot healthier than the others. I've decided to leave them where they are, as with snakes and lizards the eggs fail to hatch succesfully if moved, or twisted in certain ways. So I applied this thinking to the snail eggs and I hope that they will do well. When they come to the surface I shall move the adults, as that will be easier and let the little'uns have run of the tank untill they are big enough to go to their new homes. Hopefully it will stop them laying for a while as well. I want the eggs to keep coming but I can't very well keep up with them all at the rate they're going.

That's a good idea, to let the babies stay in the tank and move the adults.

Are they on the surface yet? If so, any chance of pictures?

Shall post pictures once they hatch for sure I think it's better to move the adults once they hatch than go through the palava of trying to move all the babies, when in the end they'll be living in there anyway. I shall update more when they hatch

I have definate alive babies crawling around now I'm so excited, I'm going to give them their first feed tonight, I'm going to use a high quality grade one baby food, so it'll be easier for them to eat and it will have good nutrition in to help them grow big and strong I now have 4 other batches waiting to hatch, any more after this I'm going to freeze untill all of these have gone. It will mean I can keep a better eye on them

I'll try and get some pictures tomorrow, I'm hoping to sort of blog everything here, keeping a sort of diary almost. It'll be good when I send to people they can see how their snails were looked after at first. Plus it's a good learning curve for me, it's the first time I've ever hatched eggs. I've been reading up for ages, and I'm soo excited XD Haha, I'd love to see a snail flex it's biceps

Baby food for baby snails... good idea.
Do you have pics of the parents up here? I've not been around for a while (work is hectic) so not sure if you've posted any anywhere.

Nope I don't, but I'll get some up soon.
Just untill I get the pictures:
1 Red Nemoralis (deep red with brown stripes) 1 Orange Nermoralis (Light orange colour with brown stripes) 2 x Yellow/green Nemoralis (Light green/dark yellow with 5 brown stripes)
I believe most of them have laid.
I'll get some pictures soon. The babies are just over a week old and hatched on the 8th of August. I think they've been eating but they're soo small it's hard to tell.

OK, update time I was feeding all of them last night, and I've noticed the bigger ones are starting to get their stripes and shall be ready to post out soon. On the 8th of September if I'm any judge. They're getting bigger, despite not munching on the various chunks of cuttle available. I think they're managing to get all of their calcium at the moment from their food. On a sad note however, I was feeding them last night before I went to bed. They're living in a cricket tub while they're small. I fed them, sprayed them and checked they are alright, I then proceeded to shut the lid, and disaster. I squashed one of the babies. He was so small I couldn't see him. I was crying for hours, I was almost sick. My mum had to finish cleaning them up as I wasn't fit to do anything. I feel so ashamed. After all the work to get them to that stage and I killed one! It was my fault. I saw him splat, just squish. It was horrible, devastating. )':

This is the largest baby I have he's almost a month old and has the more pronounced stripes. He definately takes after his parents in the amount of stripes. Unfortunately the snails are not getting their base colour yet, but I suspect it to be green. I'm keeping this particular snail, and when he's old enough I shall take the parents and release them and get some snails the same colour as him to keep the lines fresh and to prevent inbreeding. Note: The stripes are more pronounced in reality. Plus he's not particulary photogenic.

He also cried and still gets upset when he thinks about it. I've also done the lid-squishing thing. It is horrible, I do feel bad, but we both know that neither of us would purposefully harm a snail. I recon that alot of people have had various degrees of accidents with some of their snails. Please don't feel bad. xx

It may sound weird, but it's always good to know you're not the only person to have done things like that. I hate to think how many snails are trod on in the wild, yet certain people feel no remorse or feelings about it apart from being annoyed at getting slime on their shoe. Thank you xx
