i would like to know if any of these species are kept in captivity and if yes could anyone give me any infomation on them: achatina allisa achatina dammarensis achatina dimidiata achatina fulgurata achatina iostoma achatina monochromatica achatina mulanjensis achatina nyikaensis achatina passargei achatina schweinfurti achatina schinziana achatina semisuulpta achatina stuhlmanni achatina sylvatica achatina tavaresiana achatina tincta achatina tracheia achatina variegata achatina weynsi achatina zanzibarica achatina bandeirana achatina capelloi achatina elenanaraea achatina erlangeri achatina kilimae achatina pertix achatina rugosa achatina welwitsicii achatina smithii achatina vignoniana achatina murrea
I have seen the following from your list offered for sale (at least under that name but that doesn't mean it is actually that species) but few people have them and not much captive breeding has occurred as far as I am aware.
A. iostoma & A. bandeirana (these are part of the same complex) A. tincta A. zanzibarica A. stuhlmanni
A. monochromatica is a synonym of A. achatina var. monochromatica which I believe has already been mentioned in another thread.
To me care seems similar in all Achatina ssp. so I don't think species is that relevant. Is your book planned to be restricted to this genus?
no, it is for all speices kept in captivity. i have owned over 23 species in total now. but i have now had to sell all my snails but i am still doing my book. i have 3 lever arch folders full of reaserch but there so much more i need
