my first 3 babies that were born on sunday are growing by the day (it seems) but 2 hatched yesterday but both were tiny shells and never came out of the shell and now today both shells look completely empty.
I'd like to see a picture of your baby snails tho, these are my first ever hatched babies so any pics of their bros/sis's would be ace!
I found my 3 healthy ones up the side of the 'baby tub' today, they are mega cute, cant believe how tiny but fully snail-fied at only a few days old!!!

Hi, I ill post a pick later of them, i had one instance of what you said basically a shell without a snail, perfectly preserved but nothing it it. At last count i had 18 hatched snails which i have now moved to their own tank.

Wondering what they will turn out like, at the moment they do look like they will be very attractive snails, but colours and marking can change so very quickly. I took in a little tiny marginata he was totally brown so i named him chestnut. Now some two months later he is a completely different colour and whilst he does have a large remnant of his "chestnut" colour left he has more and more lighter markings appearing.

They are the same as my lil fellas!!! bless!
the photos make them look huge but i know just how tiny they really are, never seen snails so tiny ever!!!!
very lovely!
If they are eating and pooing and active ...... theres no other reason why they wouldnt survive is there?
i have only 3 very healthy ones, 1 tiny snail but healthy and 2 shells but not snails

Well to be honest Vicki there is "no" reason why they shouldnt survive but as with all life at the moment, things can just die.Just take care of them the best you can , but i am in agreement with you, they seem very active/inquisitive and downright greedy lol.
Should anything happen to yours i have a few spare here anyway. My thoughts are the following, if they are stuhlmanni thats great and i will start to breed them and give others the chance to own them. If they are not stuhlmanni but an unusual form of immaculata i will still breed them as i belive they would still be a popular snail, especially amongst those who favour immaculata. Ade

I agree it would still be worth breeding them if they are immaculata.
The person I asked has got back to me on the differences between stuhlmanni and fulica. stuhlmanni has a finely textured shell that is more uniform in colour to fulica, without the fulica pattern, the body colour and texture is also likely different, but since theres no pictures of alive ones, only shells, thats only a guess.

Ade was that last bit aimed at me the babies are bery cute, but do like slightly different to my baby immacs. most of mine had not black speckles.

Thats what i found interesting, the markings on the shell look like a mix of immac and hamillei , it will be quite exciting to see/own the result.
Lol at SS you know there are a couple with your name on them.

lol, hamillei and immac mixed, sound like what i might end up with if hoggle and ludo keep being the way they are towards each other. lol GMS, all your fault! once i have the adoption section filled out on my site there will be lots of GMS outbreaks (I hope , got give a bunch of immac juvies that need rehoming now, typical eh just got all my 6 monthers rehomed and i get given a bunch of 4 monthers)

I also have noticed the darkening of the shell as noticed in your snails, i believe our snails hatched around the same time as well, although having eighteen its kind of hard to keep note on who hatched when. Ade ( btw - they look great )

they look a lot different from the baby immacs i've had, although I only really every have var immac so it could be they are a more unusual form. very cute babies though they look a lot like my fuli babies I used to have (once upon a time, lol )
