sometimes snails just fall. Sometimes they are weak, others its just like they forget to hold on. As long as he seems ok he should be fine. Enjoy your holiday by the way

well i suppose its the same thing as questioning why someone fall over on some ice during winter, or falling off ladders/chairs while changing lightbulbs...clumpsyness probably xD Hope gary is ok tho

My Gary has been falling off the lid too, and landing on the point of his tail so ive took all hard objects out of tank and put more substrate in to cushion the fall.
I asked for advice on this and i was told that they either forget or when they get so big, they havent got enough suction in their foot to hold up their shell ...... my Gary is half a KG so im putting it down to that for now i think.

my larger snails seem to fall more often than the others as well. the only thing you can do is make sure they have deep enough coir to land in and nothing they can hurt themselves on like really hard water/food bowls.
