Hi ya,
I'm writing in as guest as I’m new to the forum. On petsnails.co.uk there is mention of sesame seed oil which can be used to polish the snail's shells. I found some sort of oil which is labelled as "Toasted Sesame Oil" Is this the same as sesame seed oil? Also, if this is ok to use on the snail's shells then what benefits of polishing give to the snails lol? Is it simply to keep the shells clean and looking nice and shiny?
Thanks to anyone who replies....

I forgot to mention that it's the sort of oil that can be used for cooking....Is this the right type?

Well if I remember correctly you can use olive oil too, which is also used in cooking so I would assume that yours is fine. I've never done it though so wait till someone else replies lol.
And as far as I know it is just to make them shiny and look nice lol.

I use toasted sesame seed oil and its fine. I've never seen untoasted to be honest. When I wrote that I only knew that sesame oil was safe but since then, it's become clear that any normal natural oil is ok, so vegetable oil and sunflower oil are also safe. It's not something you need to do all that often really, but now again is nice.

Good to know those are all useable though.

Hi to all, Thanks very much to a quick reply. I used sunflower oil and their shells are all nice and shiny now. After I cleaned them one of my GALS started to rasp away at its shell, despite wiping excess oil off. They must like the taste lol.
