could you line the top of the tank with it so they dont go up there?

I've read that citrus farmers will put copper strips around tree trunks in their orchards to keep snails from climbing into the foliage and eating it all up. Apparently it works well because snails will be all piled up on top of each other against the copper, but none will cross it.
Supposedly copper strips in one's own garden will keep snails and slugs away from even their favorite plants.
I don't know how much, if any, it harms the snails, though.

I think it's not wise to use pure copper it's like poison to humans too. What about snails when they absords chemicals thorough their skins..
