Ok, can you get albino tigers. I imagine that you can get albino anything, but I just haven’t seen any tigers for sale anywhere. If you can get them then does anyone know who sells them? Also, how much one would cost...if they exists that is.
You can get Albino tigers, or rather I should say, they exist in the wild. There are albino skinned ones and there is a variant called monochromatica which may class as an albino shelled variety.
I've not seen any in captivity although the Royal Veterinary College in London did have some monochromatica years and years ago so they must pop up every blue moon. Theirs were from Nigeria.
When you say you haven't seen tigers for sale, do you mean strictly albino because there are tigers for sale, they've been more available than ever these last few months. But they're not cheap now Brixton isn't an option.
It's not beyond the realms of possibility with there being so many captive tigers now, albinos could emerge. But I think you'll struggle to get someone to sell/give you one unless they have loads.
I was thinking about the albino thing, because GALS last so long, it'd be difficult to do research on breeding them. Is there a native species that has a short life-span/breeding cycle but that is also big enough to keep and look after properly?
For example, my Pleurodonte are nearly full size and able to breed after only 5 months, but because they are tropical I can't release them to the wild and I don't wish to kill unwanted babies. But they'd be a great species to try because of the short breeding cycle.
It'd take a lot of snails to figure even the simplest things out regarding breeding albinos and without killing the surplus ones I can't think of a way of doing it.
There are advantages to getting somewhere with this area. It is unlikely someone will get more than one albino by accident. So if we knew what would preserve the trait we could lend/swap snails to try an increase the chances.
