I'm not posting this on the classifieds, as I'm just thinking out loud at the moment. I've got two tigers reserved with Lotta, but I'm also toying with the idea of getting a margie (if you hadn't noticed by all the "awww I'm jealous" posts) ;D If I decided to, I'd be after captive bred, and I know they dont come up that often as babies/youngsters, and that obviously this is on hold til spring...but are there any people who breed margies regularly, or is it just a case of waiting for someone to post some needing homes? Obviously Brixton isn't an option, as I want my snails to cohabit with other GALS hence needing them to be captive bred. And with Ebay, and some exotics shops, getting their varieties wrong, I'd want to get one from someone who knew about snails. I'm not used to this purchasing snails malarkey, with my rats it's either rescue or breeder, and possibly a waiting list - so forgive me if I sound like a bit of a pratt. Hmmm do you think I'd best talk to hubby about this too? ;D lmao!

Margies are a bit pot luck when breeding, my latest batch of eggs were completely sterile, other people have much more success. But I'm sure by next spring they'll be plenty of margie babies, particularly because Anjie rescued so many this year. There are a lot of snails around now and no-one will pass up the opportunity of hatching Archachatina eggs.

Thanks Paul and Evelyn Evelyn, what kind of margie are they? I guess they'd have to wait til spring to go anywhere via the post?

Not always easy but suturalis babies should be easy to recognize.

Aaah I didn't know if it was a one off It'd be easier to get one from you, Eric, as you're in the UK (and I already arranged to with you * eek*). I was asking mainly because I assumed yours hadn't hatched and thought it was the only batch - sorry for the bad manners!
