I was just thinking about this, of course we adore our big sweet GALS (I don't have one yet, but plan to when im not in my boyfriends mum's house. hehe). But what smaller species are being kept as well? Could you guys help me get a list together? I am finally admitting im a tiny species nut, and want to get a list together of what species are being kept successfuly. Im thinking anywhere from 5cm or less. Here's where I am at so far:
Achatina craveni (5cm) Cepaea hortensis (2cm) Cepaea nemoralis (2cm) Helix aspersa (3cm) Arianta arbustorum (2cm)
Thanks! ;D
*Added on thanks to you guys! Helix pomatia Lignus intertinctus (Lignus tree snails) austroborus Caracolus marginella (Choc swirls) zachyrisia Succinea putris (Amber Snails) Trichia hispida (Hairy Snail) Bradybaena fruticum Oxychilus alliarius (Garlic Snails) - Limicolaria flammea (6cm) Pseudotachea splendida (about 1.5-2cm) Rumina decollata (about 4cm) Otala punctata (about 3-4cm) Eobania vermiculata (about 2cm) Xerosecta explanata (about 1cm) Helix lucorum (5cm)

If there is a second part to their name make sure to include it pretty please! ;D Im not sure what to tag to "austroborus" and "zachyrisia." Thanks so much you two!!! Im so exited, this is making me really happy having a list of all the wee species being kept. Oh my gosh!!! Don't tell Brian I forgot the Choc swirls!!! And hmm...you know your right, Lignus are pretty small...and simply pretty...ok they're in! Just had to set a guideline you know, and 5cm and less is perfect. My little dream at the moment is to raise lots of tiny snail species, and have 1-2 Tiger GALS as my big puppy pet snails. hehe ;D

Why do you have his Choc Swirls? Is something wrong? Just to be sure, is this Pleurodonte? This is the only live picture I could find.

Why do you have his Choc Swirls? Is something wrong? No nothing's wrong with Brian's Choc Swirls, it's only he is very busy and I happened to have most of his snails. (Not just the Choc Swirls) He PMd me in the past to ask me and since they are pretty small, I could keep more of them in a tank. Here are a pic of a few of his breeding Choc Swirls. The Pleurodonte and Choc Swirls look pretty similar, only the texture on the shells look different and the bodice colour of the Pleurodonte look slightly paler. They slimy around pretty just about the same speed. Here is a pic of Brian's Pleurodonte (sorry the pic is not very good but I am not at home right now to download new pics) The top one is Choc Swirls and the bottom one is Pleurodonte PS. As I said to Brian as well, I will not breed from these snails unless some people want them and ask. I just don't want to keep on having more snails, knowing they have not got enough of my care and attention.

Any chance you get babies of these species? ;D Ahhhh ok! I kept getting the impression he was getting rid of his snails! Glad everythings ok. He also PM'ed me back after I sent him one about his Tiger babies (I am so weak) letting me know about that. Brilliant! JUST the picture I needed to see the difference! Awwww, I love tiny snails SO much! That sounds like a good plan! I really want pairs of all these adorable tiny species, but I think I better get my bottom to Scotland first. Gah, 5 weeks coulden't pass sooner! ;D

Any chance you get babies of these species? ;D I have lots of Tricia hispida and Succinea putris babies I'm not sure if I have Bradybaena fruticum or Arianta arbustorum babies, because they live in the same terrarium and I don't know how to ID them...(I mean the babies...) If that makes any sense...

Gah, 5 weeks coulden't pass sooner! ;D Wait until you get to Scotlland and settle down, I will hatch some of the eggs for you if you want to, just let me know. They start laying eggs again, so I always have eggs I assume. They are very nice snails must admit.

Wonderful! I will contact you when I arrive and settle in Scotland, ok? How exiting! I would love to have a pair of captive bred Tricia hispida...and Succinea putris...oh my gosh I want them all! Thank you, I really appreciate it! I will let you know when I have arrived and settled. hehe, of course they are! They are adorable mini snails! Well, in reality they are the "normal" snails, but sense the bigger ones are SO much more popular, they are mini's to me! ;D I will let you know when I am settled in Scotland and what the situation is. It might be I will only be able to have one species until we move out of my boyfriends Mum's house. But if we end up spending a long time at her house due to needing to save money to get our own home, I don't see why I coulden't slowly start my collection because really they are such small snails, I don't see any problem having them. So, we will see! ;D
