I would say that they were Fulica, with a very nice pattern variation.

they look like smithii, but the body looks like fulica

Ebay ones nearly always are. Unless something is clearly not fulica, I'd assume it was.

Yeah they are. Can't remember if it's everywhere though. It doesn't stop them anyway. I've known people who keep illegal fish aswell as reptiles.

not that i know about,im not from the states so i wouldnt of known this
so he obviously hasn't a clue what he's doing, done no research at all before trying to sell them.

I received the snails mentioned in this thread, the 4 in the first picture, I think they are striped fulica, but they are very small (about 2cm) I cant tell if they're columella is white-blue yet.
