Do any of you put limestone flour on your snails food for extra calcium? What I wondered was I have Komodo calcium dust which is 99% calcium carbonate with added vitamin D3 for my frogs and leopard gecko, can I use that for the snails too? Or should I stick with limestone flour, or should I just leave them with their cuttlefish bone because thats adequate enough?
Thanks for any advice you can share.

If they're munching on the cuttlefish that should be enough for them, but many of us add extra calcium to their diets with limestone dust and liquid calcium in their spray bottles. I also use a calc+D3 supplement, though very sparingly. I add it to seed mixes or sprinkle it on the non-GALS' food once a week... but I wouldn't rely on it as their only source; expensive stuff if nothing else!

Most pet stores with a good aquatics or reptile range should carry the stuff, and there's always the internet.
(ooh, you're in Dundee *waves from Edinburgh*)
There are LOADS to choose from, but the differences are few. Some are more concentrated than others. Some have extra supplements and some are designed not only to add extra calcium but to treat the tap water too (getting rid of trace heavy metals and chlorine).
I just use a basic aquarium/reef one, with no added ingredients, just water and calcium.

Ok excellent... thank you so much. I have to go and get aqua safe for my newts on Tuesday so I will ask about the liquid calcium too. *waves to Edinburgh*

Hehe XD
Ooh, forgot you had newts. Heh, you probably didn't need all that extra info.
Do you add anything to the water for the cherry shrimp? You might be able to use that in the snail water.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
I buy the tubs of cricket dust and that anyways for my gecko so its there anyways - so it just would have been handy if it was fine for the snails but so long as they are at their cuttlefish bones then thats fine I'll know they are getting enough
