I know bogwood makes water acidic but not sure if it could rot snails shells over a period of time? I am sure someone mentioned this before but I couldn't locate the post, someone will know though. Brian

I used a 'log' of bogwood in my tank, the snails loved climbing on it but i never saw them eating it. Doesn't mean they didn't though lol. I didn't have any problems with snails shells while i was using it.

My mopani wood went mouldy after one night in my snails tank - the heat and humidity obviously were too much for it!
After a scrub and two weeks of soaking, it's now in our new fish tank *lol*
I wonder if there's any other wood that can be used, cos I'm sure my snailies would like something to climb on.

I have a java wood branch in my tank, my snail loves it! I got it from a pet shop, I think it was designed to be a perch for parrots. I just scrub it when I clean the tank and it's not mouldy or rotting at all, been in the tank for about 6 months now.

I have some bog wood in my tank. They love it! It's their new climbing frame! They don't seem to eat it though.
