Oooh I have also had snails die in pairs within a week or two of each other and I honestly don't know why. I have never ruled out something contagious, yet it doesn't tend to wipe out all of the snails of the species, just a few and they are often either related or bought from the same place, and often they will be fine for many months, perhaps years, and then for some unknown reason they just fade and die, while the rest remain healthy. You are doing everything possible, but sometimes there is nothing that can be done. I'm sorry for the loss of Arthur, and I hope Martha picks up. x

Yes she is looking thinner I suppose it's not surprising seeing as she hasn't eaten properly in a while now. On a ever so slightly positive note she wasn't retracted at all today, but is still the same really..

Well, the past couple of days I'd been feeling a little more positive as Martha has been more active. She still hadn't really eaten, but she'd been sliming around the tank, looking ok, just a little skinnier. Unfortunately today when I checked on her she was much further retracted, about 1.5cm or so...

Awe, I don't think it's looking good as it's been so long. But we'll all keep our fingers crossed for you. Thanks for all the updates

Sadly, I agree that it doesn't look very good for her. Sometimes things like this happen no matter how well we care for our snails. Keeping my fingers crossed anyway.

I thought I'd let you know that Martha passed away today I wish I could know what's caused all this.. and wish I could have done something .. but at least I did all I could and neither of them are suffering now.. Thankyou to everyone on here for all your help and support.

Oh no that's so sad! You tried really hard, but sometimes these things happen and we never find out why. It happens to new keepers and experienced keepers alike. I really don't think there is anything that you could have done to prevent this. It's extra upsetting to never know why it happened
I hope it doesn't put you off from keeping snails. x
RIP Martha xx

Thankyou everyone. Yeah it's definetely frustrating, but it won't put me off I haven't got any snails now, and I think with all the stress of this I might leave it that way for a while, but I doubt I'll resist them forever!
