Bought some tiger worms online, they arrived today, but in the soil I noticed these large white mites, they are the size of a small ant and quite long, I think they might be springtails (but I'm no expert!!), and was wondering if they are a danger to my snails or not? Advice needed quite as I'm in a hurry to unpack the worms, but don't want to put them in my snail tank if they are harmful! Please help! Thanks!!

They sound like springtails there is a thread in the problem section under “mites” to compare. They have appeared out of nowhere in one of my tanks and are apparently harmless even useful.

If they jump or leap, they are springtails, and harmless to snails.
