something ive been pondering about for a while really.... achatina achatina are quite rarely sold as adults so ive found, myself, i have 6, my largest being 5.5inches... ive never actually seen anyone with, or selling one bigger than this... i would love to see how big everyones tigers are ;D Attachments:

As you may know I have a rather beautiful Tiger called Chunk AND I am hoping he will grow to vast proportions . . . Well he will now coz Ive got him on a diet of MacD's & KFC ;D you didn't think it was all 4 me. I do hope that one day he will get to Thomas's size.

Well I researched this a bit and seems there are conflicting reports depending how measurements are taken - length shell only - length extended animal - length tip of shell spire to extended animal. The upper limits seem to be around : shell only 200mm extended animal 300 mm

well .............give or take a bit here and there : shell only 200mm = abt 8 " extended animal 300 mm = abt 12 "

I would go by shell size, because it's less variable than the actual animal moving about, and it's easier to measure.

goin by shell size, my thomas is 5.5 inches from tip to furthest point away from the tip

perhaps this will help? www.conchsoc.org/aids_to_id/measure.phpI agree with coyote...you cannot really measure a snails extension because you never know when it is fully extended. they can really often extend a very long way depending on the species of snail, and individuals within that species to.you can also and should also measure their weight as well.

oh no i would never try and guess the length of the body, i have only ever measured the shell length

Hello Chunk Tiger here One day I hope to be Huge like my uncles Thomas and Patrick. I've been in a sulk 2nite coz my mum gave me a bath & I sulked ;D when my mum mentioned sweet potato I kissed her lots. You get to be a Big Tiger if you eat sweet potato ;D

my albino bodied tigers are around 14cm in shell still a bit of growing to do they just dont like cuttlefish im going to try them on oyster shell

i will let you know they are pilling the weight on i keep a record of my snails weight just to keep an eye on them

oh thats a good idea! i only record the shell size but i guess weight is a better record for eating habits etc. if you could pm me if you have any to sell i would greatly appreciate that.
