In general, my snails crawl up to the lid when the tank has been disturbed or rearranged in some fashion (they usually go back down after a couple of days); when they need to estivate; when they dislike the substrate. There may be other reasons why hatchlings specifically will crawl up, but if there are I'm not familiar with them.
I put some more info in my PM to you. Good luck with all your babies!

Hi Coyote,
Thank you for responding. I am new on this forum. I am sorry but I don't know what a PM is. But what you said does make sense. In my baby tank I have put different earth etc. from the earth etc. in the main Terrarium so I believe I will try taking some of the main terrariums environment and replacing it into the baby tank. Thank you Vallery.
