Why is it at times I will find that one of the snails has gone into hibernation on the side of the terrarium when the rest are all wondering around doing there thing. They are all the same species. all in the same tank, all in the same environment, habitat, etc. It isn't always the same snail doing this, different ones do this at different times. So what would possibly make a certain snail go into hibernation and not the others?

mine used to do this sometimes, i dont think theres any real harm in it, each snail varies on what it can tolerate, so if he/she seems healthy otherwise i dont think there would be cause for alarm unless they stop eating or something like that

I agree with leila also I think that allot of it is down to the time of year. its inevitable realy that snails will try to hybernait at this time of year but obviously with the fact that their in an indoor enclosure their going to be disturbed when you take the lid of or nudge the tank so then their likely to come back out of hybernation. My first ever Fulica used to wake up from hybernation just by lightly stroking the shell (not moving it or tapping on it in any way). Some how it could feel it and always woke up. Maybe it could feel the heat of my skin moving along its shell, maybe it was vibration who knows but yes its like leila says, theirs no real harm in it at all

I too agree with what leila said. Snails are all individuals and have their own unique physiology and biochemistry and personality, etc., and they will respond to environmental changes in their own way.

Is it okay if I find one of them doing this to lightly spray him with a little water? Because that is what I have been doing and he comes around and is on his way.

I don't think it will harm him, but it might just be an annoyance... how would you like it if someone sprayed you whenever you were trying to take a nap?

Because that is what I have been doing and he comes around and is on his way. id just leave the ones who choose to hybernait be if i was you. You may find that they are somewhat more active when awake if left to go in and out of hybernation on their own accord if snails are forced to stay awake when they want to hybernait, you have the risk of the snail going doseile and drowsy. snails that want to hybernait usualy empty their stomach and feed less before doing so, so they wont be eating their full required diet to be up and about all the time just a few thoughts to consider, but like leila said, it wouldent harm them as such:D
