;D "The sound of a wild snail eating"!
I'm not surprised that snails are silent when they move around, though.

My tigers make a sound somewhere in between a click and thin cloth tearing when eating mango, and a sort of slurpy gurgling noise when eating banana. When they are starting to come out of their shell they make a popping noise first and then like your stomach rumbling. Politeness does not permit me to say what it sounds like when they suddenly withdraw into their shell, but the dog got the blame the first time I heard it!

My snails love rasping the sides of their enclosure, and they are placed on a shelf above/behind my bed. I love listening to them as I nod off to sleep.

I had the enclosure next to my bed last winter and was listening to the snails. They make an array of sounds, pops, clicks, rasps, gurgles... Funnily enough the slugs are silent! Or maybe I just don't hear them because they don't eat cuttle. Andthey don't pop because no shells. I dont think there is a sound when they flap their mantles.

My fulica make a sound like a squeaky duck when they retract if they are in a bad mood and I accidentally prod them or drop a bit of loose soil on them Sometimes when they are eating one will accidentally nibble another, and I hear them squeak!

I've been noticing this for a while now and it's just so funny: my baby aspersas and cepaeas sound like a bowl of rice crispies when I spray them! There's 100+ little guys and they all start coming out of their shells and rasp-cleaning their apertures at the same time... and all that noise sounds like a bowl of rice crispies after pouring milk on it. ;D
Snail sounds are so funny!

My boyfriend sometimes has difficulties sleeping at my place, for my snail tank is not that far from our bed... He hears them munching their vegetables and gnawing at cuttlefish bones... X) He générally has a very acute sense of hearing !
