I'm thinking my aspersas may be acting funny because they did not hibernate last winter. It was too warm for them I think. So I thought I'd try inducing hibernation for some weeks now, to get them feeling better. Has anyone done this, perhaps by putting the snails into the fridge where temperature is low but above freezing? Or how should I go about it? Thanks a lot for suggestions.

Won't they die if you put them in the fridge? I think the temperature change needs to be gradual, as opposed to a sudden drop, for them to adjust and hibernate.

I haven't actually thought about hibernating being good for snails, and more as a survival mechanism. Of course, my garden snails do not hibernate because it doesn't get very cold here in Southern California.
