mine do look a bit more orangy without the camera but you said blotches do you have a camera to take pics with? You see those purply bits, thats what i was on about when i said they were moldy but there was a snail in the one that cracked so i'll just leave them and wait and see if they hatch.

I noticed that the substrate can stain eggs, a browny-orange colour, in blotches. It doesn't seem to affect them though. There is also the possibility that some sort of fungus has attacked the eggs. There are a few known types of fungus that snail eggs are particularly sensitive too. In conditions with little air flow the chances of attack are increased. Have the eggs been on the surface? It seems more likely this problem will arise if they are because not only do some fungi need air to grow but there are more competing organisms both good and bad in the soil that keep these things down. I've never witnessed any mold on anything that has been buried.

Well, I've never seen eggs like that before. The only thing that I can think to do, is wait. Wait and see if they hatch or not...Then we will know about the fertility of the eggs. If they do hatch keep a close eye on them and see if any die and how many compared to the number that hatched. Lets say that lots die for no apparent reason, then we know that the colour of the eggs may have had something to do with their health. (Is this possible?) However, only time will tell.
