Hello, Can anyone tell me what kind of snail this is? I live in the states and found this snail while on holiday at the beach in Florida, I took it home without knowing there was something inside. Ive been home about 3 weeks and he's still alive, I don't know what to feed it or know what type of habitat it needs to live. If anyone can share their knowledge I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to keep him, safe and alive. Thank You~ Attachments:

Well first of all get it a cage and fill it with damp (but not wet) soil for now. A tupperware container with many air holes will do. Give it a cap of water and try feeding it a variety of fruits and vegetables, as well as damp fish flakes and perhaps dog food. I think it may be a Decollate snail. After you get that temporary shelter set up and figure out some things that it likes to eat follow the instructions on the main site here. Welcome to the forum.

Look like a Cerion species. Visit invertebrates.si.edu/cerion/mapfull.cfm click on the map of Florida to identify your one. For sure local people would know how to take care of these guys, I think they prefer arid, sandy conditions. Good luck !

The only reference I found so far on the diets of Cerium snails is of a shrub, Evolvulus squamosus, rockyplains dwarf morning glory. Sounds quite unobtainable. But do try the core snail foods of lettuce (not iceberg though) and cucumber. There's a list of commonly accepted foods in the feeding subforum, you could try those as well. Basically whatever you get him to eat at this point!
