I have 3 Jadatzi fulica born last september, they are all about the same age (no more than 3 weeks difference) 2 of them are growing very fast and are turning into lovely big snails but one of them, Raditz, is very small, my normal fulicas that were born probably around march of this year are catching up and almost the same size as him now! He does seem healthy otherwise, he's quite active but doesn't climb as often as the other two. they all get a varied diet, lots of calcium and when I'm watching, he eats well. He always has new shell growth so I don't think he's stopped growing, I think he's just growing extremely slowly. Is my snail just going to live his life a smaller snail, or do snails like mine face other troubles? Has anyone experienced this and managed to get the snail to grow at a normal speed again?

There has nearly always been one youngster smaller than the others with the ones I have bought. In one case the small one has nearly caught up, another doesnt look as if it will ever be large. On the other hand the tiniest Margie at 18gms on arrival is now one of the biggest. One of my Tigers is a midget compared to his siblings. As long as the smaller one is getting its fair share of the food then it has every chance to grow as large as the others if the potential is there.

It'll be quite interest to see how big he grows then, he does eat often but he doesn't stay eating for as long as they others, maybe he's just destined to be tiny!

My little iredalai grows very slowly ( even for that species ) but he has been mooching around for over two years now and seems to be as happy as the others so I doubt there is anything to worry about except maybe for him not being quite as magnificent a specimen as your others!

I suppose it's the same as people - children all grow at different rates, have growth spurts at different times and don't all grow to be 6 foot or over.
If your snail is happy and healthy, I wouldn't worry - he'll be a beauty in his own right.

an article about oregon forestsnails breeding mentioned that they had noticed that eggs laid in the same clutch, but were some of the last to come out were notably smaller than the ones that were laid first, maybe this affects the long term growth of the snail hatched out of a smaller egg
