My GALS tank is constantly being overrun with these tiny, horribly annoying gnats that are impossible to control with pesticides, and who've started to overrun my entire house, getting into the snails tanks upstairs when we never had them anywhere but the basement before. I've already cleaned out the entire tank twice since they started invading - removing all dirt, bleaching out the tank, etc., but they keep coming in from the environment every time I leave the cover off for more than two seconds I was thinking about getting a tiny species of frog such as the African Reed Frog, or a nocturnal gecko that would do well in there without a heat lamp. The only thing I can find around here that doesn't need lighting and would do well in the same conditions as the snails is a house gecko, but I'm nervous about putting anything else in with them. So, anyone house frogs or geckos with snails, and how does it work out? DO they keep down the gnats/other bugs that infiltrate the snail tank? Thanks

I had a mourning gecko with my snails. He ate the gnats and even mites, worked wonders. I'm probably getting a new one (or two). Recommended!

Thank you! I hated using pesticides around the snails, even if they weren't in the tank at the time... was always worried it would leave a residue and harm them. I'm relieved to know you had one with your snails, and that he got rid of the horribly annoying gnats
