Hi everyone, I was reading about limax maximus (leopard slugs) and came across this diagram of their possible variations. Some colorations seem to be much more common and i was wondering if anyone had experience with this and knows if its due to genetics or diet. I would normally assume it was a genetically passed down trait but I recently learned that the babies are pure white which makes me wonder that diet in the first weeks of life may be a factor. I've never bred leopards but I'm hoping to catch one or two next time it rains so any info would be helpful the pic isnt showing up so heres a link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Limax_maximus_variability.jpg

Vallery recently had a pink one, but it sadly died.
My bet is on mainly genetics though. The juvenile colouration can differ from adult for many reasons. Some Arions also have very different looking juveniles. I recall that is how you can tell A.vulgaris and A.rufus/ater apart if you get a juvenile. They're yellow and stripy, adults range from black to red or brown without stripes.
