Where is the strangest place that you've found a snail?
I've found a helix aspersa (hope I spelt that right) in the ladies' in a pub that I ate in, in Dawlish.
I've found a cepea hortensis in the locker room at work, when I worked in a shop. This was on the top floor and the room had no windows, making this even stranger than the above sighting.
I think the strangest one, though, is the cepea nemoralis that repeatedly rests in a bird feeder in my garden. The feeder is made of clear plastic and hangs in direct sunlight - it must get pretty hot and uncomfortable in there!

I think they sometimes start heading somewhere and each night just carry on forwards a bit more rather than turning around! I have seen Cepaea in the gutter outside my second floor bedroom window - god knows what they thought they would find up there that isn't available on the ground!
About the last little guy - Cepaea don't avoid heat, as long as there is enough moisture they are happy to be warmed up a bit! I have Cepaea ( both kinds ) in with my GALS and they actually head for the warm light or bury themselves near the heat mat and are often actually warm to the touch! He must feel really safe inside that bird feeder - lets hope he doesn't end up feeding the birds!

When I had fulicas as a child I had their tank next to a salamander tank. One night a snail that had been always sitting on the salamander tank's side of the wall escaped. I had forgotten both tank lids open. The big fuli had made her way into the salamander tank, sliming even through the water bits and was sleeping on the wall.
I've also found little slugs in wrong tanks sometimes, as a result of an escapade. Those had a happy ending, which isn't always the case.
Last Christmas I found my original little slugs on bottles that were kept on the balcony. The slugs got in that way and gladly I found them, so those juveniles got adopted and started my current Deroceras family.

My mum just reminded me that we've had aspersas in the house (not my fault - honest!) when I was a child. One was above the speaker, which was on the wall just below the ceiling in the living room. The other I found in the fridge. I remember that really well - it was clinging to a milk bottle in there. It was a miserable, rainy day, and I suppose it had smelt the calcium in the milk and climbed the bottle when it had been on the prowl (our milk was delivered by the milkman and left on the steps outside the house at the time).
