Hi
I was wondering if I am able to house different species together. I have two adult fulica, and 2 albino reticulata that are about half the size. Can I put these together in the same tank as I have just got a large one that they can all fit in. I was just worried about crossbreeding or the fact that the reticulata are a bit smaller.
Thanks

Hi, yes i think they will be ok! I am not 100% sure if it is even possible for them to cross breed - but if you ask specifically on here someone will know.
As far as keeping species together, they don't seem to mind at all. I have a main large tank that has 5 seperate species from 3 different continents and they seem fine. They are all eating, pooping and occasionally laying eggs so I guess they are satisfied with their company.
I understand your concern about size but I watched my reticulata ( who is getting rather large now ) glide straight over the top of a C.Nemoralis yesterday. I couldn't really intervene because his foot has so much strength that I don't feel right pulling on his shell but the little C. Nem ( fully grown ) didn't seem at all bothered. He just sat still until the big fella went past then followed up the back of the tank. He wasn't damaged in any way.
