It seems like my collection is rapidly growing so it makes sense to have one thread like other people have done My fulicas. Ivor the white jade and Ike is normal. Isabella is alot bigger. Tomorrow they will be joined by Indy, a jadatzi similar size to Ivor. Today's new arrivals are Otis and Olive the albopictas. They are in immaculate shape and I'm so happy with my purchase. Such a stark contrast to Ike and Isabella the pet shop rescues! Olive With Ike on the left. Olive is very shy compared to Otis. I have some 'imperfect' albino retics coming in the post tomorrow so I will update then!

The retics are looking much better after some tlc. Gave them a little polish with some oil and their shells have come up a treat. I picked up some more fulicas from the pet shop yesterday, but plan to sell these on. They are so active and HUNGRY! When I got them home they all ate for 4 hours straight. There was nothing in their tank apart from a cuttle fish. Shells aren't in great nick but thankfully not nearly as bad as my other 2 pet shop rescues. If I sell these on successfully I might ask the pet shop to do me a deal on the whole tank they have and start rehoming them all.

Wow, cool. I wouldn't worry about the shells - I'm guessing snails aren't house - proud! lol As long as you look after them they might improve a bit anyway.
Just wanted to say though - you mentioned Jadatzi? I have heard on some websites that they have a habit of rasping other snails shells? I could be wrong but it might be worth checking out.
Your albopictas have much paler bodies than mine. Wonder if there are variations? My little fella has a practically red / maroon body and I thought they all did!

Oh wow that sounds like a nice colour body, mine are sort of a 'latte' colour with a nice darker streak down the middle. I've only ever heard of the retics rasping other snails bodies but all my snails are in species specific tanks, although I havn't heard about jadatzi doing that, I will try to find some info

The cepaea/fulica tank got some new wood and moss today and I picked up a new hortensis from my dads garden. The retics also seemed to enjoy some new wood and have fallen asleep together up in it. These two are a proper love story and I can't wait for eggs.

Salvaged an old tank from dads garden and made a lid, use it for all my wildcaught cepaea and h.aspersa Retics are doing well. Possibly eggs on the way. They got a new tank mate too. Currently nameless. And the fuli's are doing better than ever now that they have a heat mat, growing really quickly.

Thanks! They are very pretty. They are my least active snails even though they are kept warm so I worry about them, but they have grown at least 2 inches of shell since the pictures there, in less than a month so I assume they must be doing ok. The new shell is actually bendy as it's grown so quick dissimilar to my jadatzi who is also a very quick grower but her new shell is quite brittle. It's fascinating watching them grow.

Your tanks are so pretty. Achatina achatina have very beautiful, intact shells. And albino reticulaties- lovely.

I use reptile humus, it's like compost in composition but I think it might just be finely ground coco fibre. I buy it dry in sacks of 20 litres, and it bulks a bit as it is too dry as it comes. I'll be switching to coir though soon as found a supplier which can do me alot for a reasonable price as I am getting slightly tired of lugging 20 litre sacks home on the bus! They were on coir before and I haven't noticed any change.

You have some really lovely snails Aimee. I'll be following the progress of the 'pink' jadatzis with interest, are you going to breed them to each other to see what the offspring are like?
I also have to say that the small child holding your tiger is adorable <3

Very nice snails Interesting information on the shell bubbles- I've never heard of that before. Maybe some kind of fungus or bacteria became trapped between the layers of shell and produced gases that formed the bubbles, your snail's immune system seems to have dealt with it and healed though, I'm happy to see that!
