Hey guys. I'm currently writing a Cepaea tips section for Vallery's Cepaea thread. As I've started writing I've noticed that I've mentioned preventing mantle collapse a fair amount, this is because in my experience I've had a lot of trouble with Cepaeas getting mantle collapse. I've never had that problem with any other type of snail as of yet, but I've had 4 cases affecting Cepaea in the last year. I'm wondering if anyone else has the same experience or maybe even a completely different view. If it doesn't really seem to be an issue at all for others then I will keep my mention of mantle collapse to a minimum, but if others feel the same way it may be important to add some extra preventative information. Thanks

I've never experienced mantle collapse in Cepaea species, but in Helix aspersa and H. pomatia

Hi Shadydeesnail,
One of mine died recently and it may have been mantle collapse I am not sure as I have never seen one that died that way. His head and front of his body were very protruded and he was very stiff it was awful none of the others have ever died that way and never stiff like that.
Does that sound similar to mantel collapse?
Do you have any photos of cepaea mantel collapse you could post on the cepaea thread to show what it looks like for this species? vallery
