I am new to keeping snails & to this forum, but am finding it so useful
My question is about hibernation. It's getting colder & outdoor snails are now thinking about hibernating. (I live in the UK) Obviously, mine are in a centrally heated house, so does this mean they will stay awake all winter? If so, will it harm them not to hibernate? Any advice will be appreciated, Thank-you. They are garden snails, but were hatched indoors, so have never been outside.

I think the younger snails will be fine with the solitary snail, so long as they are big enough to avoid being crushed or ran over. I found with my wild caught snails that some tried to hibernate while others didn't, so just keep an eye on them. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that snails that don't hibernate don't live as long, not because it hurts them but because being in a dormant state doesn't take away from their life expectancy, as if they don't age during dormancy. (They do of course) I can not remember where I read this to be honest, so don't quote me on it! It's up to you if you want to wake up the snails if they do try and hibernate.
