All my margie eggs have developed a slight discolouration on the tops. It is a slightly yellowybrown colour. Could it be from the moss on top?

My first batch got discoloured from the moss I had been using (I'm guessing it was from that as the patches were only where the moss had touched them) but if yours is because of that shouldn't it be everywhere else too? Or are they not sat on moss?
I think Sarah said they can discolour when they're rotten too.

They are sitting in little pockets of soil with the moss on top. As it is only on the side where the moss is I am hoping it is just from the moss, but wondered if anyone else had experienced this discolouration. half the eggs are 2 weeks old, the other half are 1 week old.

Well I did with mine, and as yours are the same and only where the moss is it could be that.
You'll just have to leave them and see really.

Lol don't worry I'm being exactly the same with mine. I was worried when they discoloured but then I looked at the patches and they were the exact same colour as the moss, and the moss has discoloured things before. I'm even more worried about my second batch now seeing as the first didn't do anything!

Hmm, perhaps i need to move them. They are in a tank sitting on a heat mat, and the whole thing is inside a propagator. Not sure how accurate the reading is, stupid thermometer is designed for aquariums.

I use them and they're fine. As far as I know all therms are basically the same? Just different packaging etc. Obviously I could be wrong as I know sod all about them lol, but I checked my tanks with a normal room therm and they were all the same temp as the fish ones were telling me.
I'm not sure about when you might see something, Sarah can answer that one I think?

It's like a little sensor, attached to a wire, that goes to a little box that gives a digital reading. It has a button to change it from outside to inside temperature. It is set to outside, and sitting on the little tank that is inside the propagator, so it's sort of giving the temp in the propagator. If i set it to inside temp, it says 23 degrees.
