Today I went snail hunting, 'cause I am desperate to get a snaily! I noticed something. All the snail shells were empty. And each one had a small hole in it, perfect circle. On one of the snails shells, the area around the hole was green. In another shell 2 cockroaches were dead inside. I found four babies, all dead. Any I dea what this might be? P.S: If I get really desperate, I might even have to ask someone from here to deliver over a snaily. Shelldon Slime \@_

The holes are probably from blackbirds or thrushes eating the snails I'm afraid. Try looking in hidden dark places - under cover, tucked away, or high up. You can sometimes find Cepaea on tree trunks too. If you have no luck, maybe it will be better in spring - many wild snails are hibernating in winter.

Yes, here in the UK, all wild snails are hibernating, so if you do find one hidden away somewhere, it will be sealed in, sleeping. Agree that if you wait til spring, you will be able to find hundreds to choose from on a wet day!
