Good afternoon, Since a half year I hold the snails Pomatias elegans. But they always dig in to the earth. I don't know what to do. I have send so much emails to People from the whole World, but Nobody can helping me and my snails. So I joined in your Community for asking if you have an advice for me. How do you hold them?
(Please excuse my spelling, I'm not good in English)
Thank you!

Here is a photo from the terrarium. The ground is "cocohumus" Attachments:

I used to keep pomatias, they like good daylight and real plants in their tank, I used to use ferns and they would climb all over them. Good light, real plants and keep it good and damp/wet.

Hi medicago , Maybe the humity in the tank isn't high enough so they are digging into the soil for moisture. vallery

The mould is, from what I know, not dangerous for snails and should disappear with time. You should get a hygrometer to measure humidity. The relative humidity should be ca 80%. Better ventilation may prevent mould, but would make it harder to keep the humidity.

You should spray so that the air humidity is above 80%, but try not to make it too wet.

Please help me and my snails, how do you hold them? What ground do you use for Pomatias elegans, which air humidy do you have in their Terrarium, what do they eat? I don't know what I can do for them, so that they like it at my Home for them. Forgive me that I always ask again and again, but I don't want that they die because of me...

I haven't heard of anyone else keeping this specie, and I've never kept them myself. So I don't know if anyone is able to help you. It is usually best to find out how to care for an animal before getting one.

I do have informed me, and I have considered 3 years before I have bought them. But all the Information that I have collected and converted seems incorrect. they still don't like it. So I have send E-mails to people who said that they care these Snails. but they only can report me the same. Meanwhile I think that the problem is by the Snails, everyone who had bought the Snails in the same shop, has made the same experience. I will try to make the best for them I can do. Thank you for your help, Best wishes Medicago

Yes I agree with Tbger. They are most likely just one of those species that likes to be buried! Achatina Achatina is also a species which I find spends most of it's time buried even when kept at optimum conditions. I am sure you are keeping them correctly if all your care information matches that of the way other people care for them. And I'm sure if it was incorrect your snails would have been showing signs of ill-health by now, but as they aren't I would say you are keeping them just fine! Wonderful little tank they've got there by the way!
