What could cause a snail to remain half out of its shell for 2 days? I mean, it is stuck to the side of the tank, but at the botton, so its shell is on the floor. You can't see its eyestalks ot anything, you can just see the body.
When I sprayed it just now, it poked its eyestalks out for 2 minutes and then went back to its normal position.
Although the temperature isn't brilliant I know A. Fulica can survive at room temperature, and it will get warmer soon (hopefully) as the weather changes.
I have had more trouble with this snail that any other pet I've ever had. I don't understand why it is so stubborn. It hasn't grown in a year! And I'm sure it isn't fully grown yet!
I keep asking, but I really need help.
Thanks AquaGuy

Sorry it is blurry. The resolution isn't very good. I've only put a few strawberries out because if I put more out for 'him' 'he' probably wouldn't eat it. Attachments:

Hi aquaguy , Your photos are actually very good. Your snails shell looks good perhaps a little dry in spots. You could try gently rubbing some olive oil on the shell. Your tank set up looks very good as well and a good size in my opinion. You could plant some English Ivy in the tank. Can you get a photo of the outside of the tank showing the snails body that is retracted and sticking on the side? By the way what is your snails name? vallery

Sorry, it is very blurred, but you should be able to see. Do you see what I mean about it being half out? It stays like that mose of the time, occasionaly poking one eyestalk out for a few seconds. Attachments:

This one is pretty pointless but helps explain the other one. Attachments:

Sheldon is a great name Have you tried giving Sheldon a bath? If you do, afterward place him on a flat clean surface such as a plate or kitchen counter (where he can't fall off) and wait just to see what he does.

Thanks. It will probably change again soon. I will try that, thanks. I have never gave him a bath. I'll let you know after I've done it.

He's just napping. He must be taking his time digesting food, my fulica, Kitty, does this too and she's perfectly healthy!

Some of my snails do this for about 2-3 days at a time, they do come down when they're good and ready, but sometimes if I want to take them out the tank I simply wet my hand and slide my finger underneath them and gently take them off the glass. Don't worry about him doing this, he's fine, it's just a bit easier for him to cling to the glass while slightly out of this shell thats all
