I have an interesting picture here of my Achatina fulica 'jadatzi' mating with my Achatina albopicta. The mating was shorter than usual compared with fulica x fulica and albopicta x albopicta matings so I'm not sure if they realised something was wrong and gave up half way through Sorry about the picture being obscured by the slime trail left by the snail on the right! If the mating was successful, how likely do you think it will be that the snails will produce viable eggs? I'm interested to see if anything comes of this!

I read somewhere that all achatinas are basically types of fulicas so maybe you'll get a mixture? I'd be interested to find out x

That's interesting! Fulica and albopicta are particularly closely related or so I've read, and I've seen baby hybrids on sale before, so to get some babies from this mating would be really interesting!

Not all Achatina's are the same as fulica, these (albopicta) are subgenus Lissachatina, like fulica though, so they may be able to crossbreed. I don't know if its a good idea to try to hybridise them though.

I do believe I've seen for sale fulica 'jade' x albopicta hatchlings, they had albopicta shell and albino body, rather cute really! Hope you get some special little bubbies from these two!

Well I've had many eggs from that tank and while most of the babies are definitely little albopictas there are a couple of white shelled babies with slightly darker bodies. The fulica have been kept only with albinos for several generations so I'm thinking it's possible that these are maybe hybrids. I'm not going to make any assumptions until they are larger though as they are only a few mm long! Anyway, I have a question about f x a hybrids, can the crossbred young breed with other crossbred young? I just thought abot it and now I'm curious!
