Hey there, I'm really curious to see which species are more commonly kept as pets, I was looking through some of the older threads and it seems that back in 2006 certain snails were more available while others that are more available now, weren't so much. I know a little poll isn't going to be particularly accurate but the results could be interesting. I'm bound to have missed out certain species too, but hopefully not too many! I'm going to do a separate thread for non-Achatinidae snails. Thanks -Feel free to tick the boxes of snails you've owned recently (within the past few months) if you like, but if you owned a species 6 years ago that you haven't had since, it's best that you don't tick the box.

At the moment I keep,
Achatina achatina albino Achatina fulica full albino "jadatzi" Achatina immaculata, panthera form Achatina balteata infrafusca Achatina zanzibarica Archachatina papyracea Archachatina marginata var. ovum (normal)
And some non Achatinidae species. I've kept most of those on the list. I haven't seen Archachatina knorri, bicarinata or Achatina glutinosa in captivity though, there was some a few years ago, but they looked like fulica to me.

maybe it would be worth putting in the various subspecies of margies? im sure a while ago suts and ovums were fairly common but the other subspecies were not.

I really wanted to add subspecies as well, especially for the Arch. marginata! I was limited to 35 choices though It might be worth someone that knows more about margies and their subspecies making a similar thread. It might be helpful for people to see these results if they are wanting to know the availability of a species, but what Id really love to do is come back a long time from now and do another, to see if the results have changed dramatically or not. I hope more people join in

Congrats Vickyholt13! You've got quite a collection already. I just got my new reticulatas from Starcrazy, I love them already It just happened the types I wanted all came up for sale or looking for homes at the same time ;D I'm just on the look out of a fulica jade and a rodatzi I love the colour variation in the fulica but I love the temperaments and characters of the retics and I'd not had margies before and they are wonderful snails too. ;D I'm so happy with them all
