My Margie ovum laid eggs 3 weeks ago. I read that it takes about a month and thay can be difficult to hatch. I wondered if there is a point at which you can be sure nothing is going to happen. I know I could break one to check eventually but the thought does not appeal to me.

If you have a microscope available, that works really well. Another option is to simply use a strong light and try to see through the egg, maybe with a camera magnification as an aid.

I always just left my margie eggs where they were laid in the tank and never had any difficulty hatching them i think the less you interfere with them the greater the hatch rate(infact i ended up with far too many margies so now i freeze their eggs), occasionally some eggs didn't hatch it was obvious which ones as they go off (smell bad or go a sticky brown or more disturbingly red)
